• It’s a Thursday morning. The first thing I see is my alarm clock.

  • I first go to the kitchen where I prepare my coffee. Here are some coffee beans from Ethiopia Sidamo brewed in Ventura, California.

  • I hand-grind my beans while I wait for my water to boil in my gooseneck kettle.

  • Today I’m brewing my coffee with the Hario V60—a drip filtration method.

  • Every morning I try to get time alone with God. Today I am reading a Psalm.

  • I then walk to campus, which is conveniently right across the street.

  • In my biological oceanography class, we are studying different marine organisms. This is a mermaid’s purse—an egg case for a shark.

  • Here’s a jar of fermented fish…tasty!

  • We also observed microscopic organisms.

  • These are diatoms—one-celled organisms. They are phytoplankton, which means they are like the grass of the ocean!

  • This is a dinoflagellate. It’s also a one-celled organism. It moves around with two tails called flagella. It has a deep groove across its body.

  • These are the spiders of the sea, known as crustaceans. They have exoskeletons, many appendages, and a segmented body.

  • Relaxing outside with a panoramic view of Downtown.

  • On Thursday nights, I meet with a Christian group called the Navigators.

  • Here I’m mincing some garlic for my garlic bread.

  • The before.

  • The after.

  • My roommate and I also made other food…

  • Like tri tip! This is one of the finest cuts of burgundy pepper tri tip from the Seaside Market in Cardiff-By-The-Sea, California.

  • It really was a delicious meal!

  • Doing some textbook reading during the evening.

  • Working on a tedious coding project at my desk.

  • Working on a new song.

  • My keyboard’s arpeggiator is one of my favorite features.

  • I love stringing lights around my room.

  • It’s like Christmas all-year-round.
